A nurse is considered a “Medical Assistant” in the garments industry. She provides First Aid Treatment for Compounding & Despising Medicine, Maintain the Injury Register, Medicine Out & Stock Register Book. Also, Arrange Small Surgeries like needle injury, Cut Injury, Burn Dressing, and many other things. In this article, we are discussing the Roles and Responsibilities of the Nurse in the Garments Industry.

These are the key Roles and Responsibilities of a Nurse in the Garments Industry:

  • Assisting the doctors during operation & follow-up post-operative patients.
  • Ensures that proper observation records of the patients are made and necessary information is imparted to the concerned authorities.
  • To give preventive, primitive, and curative treatment to the patient.
  • Dressing wounds and applying support for broken bones.
  • Keeping accurate. and checking equipment
  • To assist doctors in all respects.
  • Provide First aid treatment to workers when required.
  • All medical instruments and equipment are maintained.
  • Stitch with cut injury patient when required.
  • Daily all first aid box check.
  • Maintain daily medicine registered.
  • Maintain injury registered.
  • Maintain Maternity follow-up register.
  • Maintain medical leave register.
  • To supervise the medical center properly and follow the guidelines of compliance, make sure the hygienic environment of the medical room.
  • Pregnant women’s worker’s monthly check-up BP, Pulse, Anemia, edema, Weight, LMP, EDD, Temperature, and maintenance register.
  • Ensure day-to-day functions of all medical, safety, and First aid support at the factory.
  • Responsibility for initiating emergency treatment, stabilization of patients and ensuring adequate patient monitoring in the medical department.
  • Responsible for assisting in the transfer of sick patients to the hospital as requested by the factory doctor and the safe handover of patients.
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent infection control standards in the factory .
  • Keep and maintain daily treatment records of sickness, medicine In-out register, and other related issues.

Skills Require of a Nurse for the Garments Industry

The academic qualification of nurse is having a Diploma in Nursing degree or a BSc. in Nursing degree. Other professional skills of a nurse are given below:

  • Taking patient samples, pulse, temperature, and BP of the employees of the garments industry.
  • Communicating with doctors, patient’s other departments, and co-workers about patient care, locating and sharing resources, and organizing patient care.
  • Promoted health care for patients and medications to support groups.
  • Developed knowledge, skills, and expertise in nursing the critically ill.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and infection-free environment.
  • Providing necessary guidance on health maintenance and disease
  • field training/clinical practices & 45 days internship in Various departments like: (Medicine, ICU, CCU, Pediatric, and Emergency in Dhaka Medical College Hospital & Marks Medical College Hospital (2 Months),
  • Professional Afflation I am a Registered Nurse & I have a licensed nursing Profession According to the Compresences Licensing Examination & qualified by the Bangladesh Nursing & Midwifery Council.
