Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information TextileNotes collects when you use the site, why it is collected and what you can do about it. The short version: the site works without an account, does not use advertising trackers, and collects only what it needs to count page views, improve content and reply to you.

Information stored in your browser#

Some features store small pieces of information in your own browser (local storage). This information stays on your device and is not sent to us, except where stated:

You can clear all of these at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.

Page view counting#

Articles and defect guides show a real view count. When you have spent a few seconds on a page, your browser sends the page name and the random visitor identifier described above. On the server, that identifier is combined with the page and the date and converted into a one-way keyed hash. Only the hash is stored, it is used solely to avoid counting the same visit twice in a day, and it is deleted automatically after two days. The page's total and a daily total are stored. Your IP address is not stored for view counting.

Calculator use, downloads and search#

• When you use a calculator, the site counts that the calculator was used. The values you type are not sent.
• When you download a template, the download is counted.
• When you search on the search results page, the search phrase and the number of results are added to anonymous totals. This shows which topics readers need that the site does not yet cover.

These are aggregate counts. They are not linked to any identifier, account or IP address.

Feedback#

If you use the "Was this useful?" box, your answer, the page it relates to and any comment you type are stored. Please do not include personal information in comments.

Contact form#

When you send a message, your name, email address, subject and message are stored so the editor can read and reply to it. If email notifications are configured, a copy is also sent to the site's contact mailbox. Messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and for no more than 24 months, unless you ask for earlier deletion.

Newsletter#

The newsletter is offered only when email sending is configured. If you subscribe, your email address, the consent wording you agreed to, the time of consent and the page where you subscribed are stored. You must confirm your address by clicking a link before any newsletter is sent. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

Server and security logs#

Like any website, the hosting server records technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as request times, requested addresses, error details and IP addresses in web server logs. These logs are used only for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention, are not used for marketing, and are rotated regularly.

Cookies#

Public pages do not set cookies. The administration area uses a strictly necessary session cookie for signed-in editors only.

Third parties#

By default, TextileNotes loads no third-party scripts, advertising, social media widgets or external analytics. Share buttons are plain links: nothing is sent to a social network unless you click one. If an external analytics or advertising service is enabled in the future, this policy will be updated before it is switched on.

Your choices and rights#

You can use every public part of the site without giving any personal information. You can ask for a copy of, or deletion of, a contact message or subscription that relates to you by writing through the contact page. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data protection law.

Changes#

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new date.
