DHU Report

What this template does#

The DHU report records daily quality at a check point, usually end-of-line checking. For each line and day, you enter pieces inspected, total defects and defective pieces. The sheet calculates DHU (defects per hundred units) and defective percentage in separate columns, so the two measures are never mixed up. Summary cells give the overall figures for the period.

When to use it#

• Daily, for each line's end-of-line checking.
• In weekly and monthly quality reviews, to track trends by line.
• When comparing lines, as long as they check in the same way.

How to complete it#

1. Enter the date and line.
2. Record pieces inspected, from the checker's tally.
3. Record total defects (every defect) and defective pieces (each faulty garment once).
4. Enter the top defect for the day.
5. Review trends weekly: rising DHU on a line is a signal to look at inline checks and root causes.

Tips#

• Keep one sheet per check point. Inline, end-of-line and final audit DHU tell different stories.
• Use the same defect definitions on every line.
• Record defects by operation in the checker's tally, even if this report only shows the total.

Common mistakes#

• Entering defective pieces in the defects column.
• Counting repaired garments again when they return.
• Changing sample size or check point without noting it.
